How often to change: engine air filter
Engine air filter: Typically every 20,000–45,000 km (15,000–30,000 miles); more often on dusty roads.
Your owner's manual or service booklet gives the interval for your car. Severe use, such as towing, short trips, dusty roads or extreme temperatures, usually means shorter intervals.
Why it matters
Stops dust entering the engine, which would wear cylinders and damage the MAF sensor.
Signs it is due
- Visibly dirty filter
- Reduced power on older engines
