How often to change: spark plugs
Spark plugs: Copper plugs about 30,000–50,000 km; platinum and iridium plugs typically 100,000–160,000 km (60,000–100,000 miles). Check your manual.
Your owner's manual or service booklet gives the interval for your car. Severe use, such as towing, short trips, dusty roads or extreme temperatures, usually means shorter intervals.
Why it matters
Worn plugs need more voltage to fire, causing misfires and loading up the ignition coils.
