How often to change: brake pad inspection
Brake pad inspection: Inspect every 20,000 km or yearly. Replace when friction material reaches about 3 mm or the manufacturer's minimum.
Your owner's manual or service booklet gives the interval for your car. Severe use, such as towing, short trips, dusty roads or extreme temperatures, usually means shorter intervals.
Why it matters
Worn pads reduce braking performance and destroy the discs.
